My first VisionPro app, or the best coffee mug now also in 3D.
Whoop! My favourite coffee mug in an Apple Vision Pro app?
You bet! Using RealityComposer in my iPhone, Xcode and Reality Composer pro on my Mac with the built in Vision Pro simulator.
So what does all of this mean? For me it’s clear. The democratisation of 3D and immersion!
If I can do it, think what creators on for example Etsy can do? Want to see the creation before you buy? No problem!
Things are moving fast now. Be prepared or be left behind.
Want to replicate my video? Here is what i did:
Last years WWDC was full of great tutorials for the tooling mentioned above. I had some problems accessing the video but found them all here on Youtube. and specifically the one called Develop your first immersive app.
In my video, I scan my coffee mug, airdrop the result to my macbook pro, create the default VisionPro volume project in Xcode, locate the “scene” and remove the included model, replacing it by dragging in my newly created coffee mug. Since its a quite simply programming language, Swift, which i have never used, I google for how to add a hyperlink and just added a link to my blog in it as well.
Was the 3D model perfekt? No! But good enough 🙂
This was great fun!
